Job purpose
Ensure that the bank’s interests are protected from a legal stand point by providing legal opinions and advisory services to the Corporate and Investment Banking Group as well as drafting and reviewing legal documentation and negotiating all types of contracts relating to corporate, banking and finance matters
Key result areas
- Reviewing, drafting of documentation relating primarily to corporate and banking facility agreements, finance security documents and commercial arrangements including, but not limited to, credit facility agreements, pledge and mortgage agreements, services agreements, syndication agreements, escrow trust account agreements, supply agreements, all types of letters of credit, bonds and guarantees, pursuant to Loan Market Association or other internationally accepted standards, as may be relevant and applicable.
-Providing active support to the Corporate and Investment Banking Group and the Credit documentation unit (as may be necessary) in negotiating credit facility agreements and other finance and security related documentation.
- Ensuring compliance with the legal department’s internal service standards for the provision of services in order to achieve business objectives and timelines.
- Attend client meetings with Relationship Managers and provide prompt assistance in addressing legal issues and closing out documentation.
- Co-ordinate and liaise with external counsel, as needs be, to obtain advice (in a cost efficient manner) on particular legal matters and issues.
Knowledge, skills & experience
- Law Graduate with a minimum of 3-4 years of post-qualification experience in banking
- law practice at a reputable bank or law firm preferably in the UAE or the GCC.
- Well versed with UAE corporate and commercial laws with some level of exposure to legal practices and laws in international jurisdictions.
- Good contract drafting skills.
- Commercially minded and results driven.
- Pro-active with the ability to work efficiently and handle various matters at the same time.
- Computer literate and good command of written and spoken English is essential.
- Arabic fluency would be an advantage.
