Job Profile:
The Finance Manager is a key role providing vital professional advice and support on financial issues to the Universities various Strategic Business Units. This includes the preparation and review of management accounts on a monthly basis for the School for Budget Holders/Deans, querying and providing explanations for variances against budget and escalating issues to the Centre with recommendations for action.
You will also play a significant part in the Annual Planning process preparing budgets and subsequently forecasts on a quarterly basis as well as managing the SBU’s Financial Year-End. They will be the first point of contact for all aspects of Finance within the School with responsibility for managing one member of staff. They will also take the Finance lead in the School Management meetings.
You will be a fully qualified accountant and an experienced finance professional with excellent IT skills, particularly Excel, and with experience of preparing budgets and forecasts. You will have excellent analytical skills and a proven aptitude for team working. This role will require excellent communication and organisational skills.
Under current UKBA regulations, the University is unlikely to be able to get a work permit in respect of this post. We can therefore only accept applications from people who will have the right to work in the UK for at least one year from the date of appointment.
